Volunteers from Harpswell’s Town Lands Committee, Select Board and Harpswell Invasive Plant Partnership met at Harpswell’s Tidemill Landing to assess the invasive plants on the right of way, and how best to control them.
Invasive Canada Thistle along the shoreline at the landing was “beheaded” and bagged to prevent the flowers from forming seeds. Invasive black swallow-wort also received a trim to remove the flowers, while the multiflora rose, barberry and bittersweet will wait for a better time to cut and control their growth.
